“Diverse relationships between trees and microorganisms: symbiosis, parasitism, and saprophytism” [JP}

In a forest ecosystem, microorganisms play diverse roles including symbiosis, parasitism and saprophytism to maintain the ecosystem functions. Invasion of exotic organisms and abandonment of forest management may result in forest destruction such as pine wilt.
