Building a Sustainable Future for our Planet and Society (Global Focus on Knowledge)
Coordinator: Kazuhiko Takeuchi
Navigator: Hirotaka Matsuda
Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 is an important and inclusive challenge for the international community. Human activities are on the brink of exceeding the planetary boundaries, and we must address the question of how we might build a society that is rich but within planetary boundaries. In “Global Focus on Knowledge,” we will consider long-term pathways toward a sustainable future of the earth and its communities with students who will be the next generation of leaders. Discussions will focus on the world, Asia and Japan, and cover topics such as society and culture, education, energy, local economies and health from the perspective of Sustainability Science.
