There are two ways of creating things: fiction and simulation. Artists make use of the both. In order to consider the relationship between fiction and simulation, philosophers use "possible worlds" as conceptual tools. In this lecture, Prof. Miura introduces the theory which can explain the entanglement of fiction and simulation in terms of the possible worlds. He asks further: What the "real world" would look like if viewed against the background of "possible worlds," "fictional worlds," and "simulation worlds"? This is a philosophical reflection running through art, religion, and science.
