The University of Tokyo has designated July 4th as the "UTokyo Safety Day" to remember that an accident, in which a member of the institution lost their life during a diving operation, occurred in 2005. It is around this time each year that we hold the “UTokyo Safety Day” lectures with the aim of preventing the memories of the accident from fading away, improving the safety and hygiene in educational and research activities, preventing accidents and disasters, raising safety awareness, and promoting a safety culture. This year, which marks the 19th lecture, the event was held on Tuesday, July 9th with the theme of "Ensuring safety according to the level of risk".
