When Albert Einstein visited Japan, Doi Uzumi, a professor at the First Higher School, proposed a negation of the theory or relativity and raised questions concerning Einstein’s theory. By analyzing the tendencies shown by Doi and the circle around him, we hope to shed light on peculiarities among the scientific community in Japan during and immediately following World War I.
