The objective of this lecture is to provide an intellectual foundation for considering and resolving multilayered problems related to such labor laws. Specifically, the lecture will discuss framework of basic legal fields which comprise “labor laws” in sequence: an overview of labor laws, laws concerning employment relationship, labor-management relations, labor market, and ones concerning resolution of labor-management disputes. It is this instructor’s idea to make the lecture interactive emphasizing the following: 1) to proceed the lecture by taking up examples that provide concrete images; 2) to urge wider and deeper considerations taking into account institutions and realities of various foreign countries and characteristics attributable to Japanese society and culture; 3) to foster the ability to think independently through as much dialogues as possible with all students in the class.
