Japanese eels were finally listed on Ministry of the Environment’s “Red List” as Endangered(EN) level in February 2013. Moreover, recent fishery yields of glass eels for artificially raising are notably decreasing. Where does the situation go? Why has the resources become so poor? How can we recover the quantity of eels? Are we going to lose an invaluable traditional food culture? This symposium aims to raise awareness of people and find some sort of hint for taking effective measures on the issue.
