An Analysis of Cs Behavior in the Soil, River, and Ocean: By the Aid of XAFS [JP]
Prof. Takanashi claims that the macro-level behavior of radioactive materials will become clearer, if the micro-level chemical processes are clarified. His research group studied the movement of radioactive materials in the soil, river and ocean, by using XAFS ( X-ray absorption fine structure ) analysis. Kalium Dynamics in the Soil of Fukushima [JP]
In Fukushima, fields are fertilized with kalium for inhibition of the absorption of radioactive Cesium. However, it is reported that K fertilization does not success in some fields. Why? Redistribution of Cesium in Organic Soil [JP]
The radioactive cesium deposited on land surface is supposed to continue to be fixed, without movement of soil by denudation and other causes.
